"Passport To Pimlico" and "The Belles Of St Trinians" Representation

"Passport to Pimlico"is a comedy based British film. The film was inspired by the true events of which the Royal Family from the Nertherlands fled to Canada during World War II,T.E.b Clarke wrote the script and demonstrated his signature development of absurd ideas.
Some scenes in which the residents are refused passage out of their district into London by the authorities, and rely on supplies thrown over the dividing wall by well-wishers, were very topical because the film was made during the Berlin Blockade. The Berlin Blockade was during the multinational occupation of post-World War II Germany, the Soviet Union blocked the Western Allies' railway and road access to the sectors of Berlin under their control. Their aim was to force the western powers to allow the Soviet zone to start supplying Berlin with food and fuel, thereby giving the Soviets practical control over the entire city.

The use of comedy clearly enables politicaly saw subjects to be brought up and being acceptable at that point of time. It enabled viewer's to have a deeper understanding of the type of situations that were occuring. Another interesting representation in this film was the representation of age. On controry to popular believes the film gave the younger generation the wisdom and correct handeling of the situation. Giving a swap of roles between the elders and youngsters.
