"Kidulthood"

"Kidulthood" is a powerful film representing social class,gender,age and britishness. From introducing the youth of today in environments whom push them to extremities and capture the radical decision makings that convert teenagers to adults. Hence the name "Kidulthood", not only does it represent age but also the mental development that we are pushed to make.

Age is enhanced through all of the characters including male and female. In one scene,the extravagant use of alcohol and drugs is actually used by the main female characters, as if it is a norm which in our day it most likely is. Also surprisingly the female characters are those who use stronger drugs and mix them together such as marijuana,cocaine and ecstasy even if one of them is in the early stages of pregnancy,unlike the male characters whom consume marijuana.
Also age is shown through the female characters represented as promiscuous women whom complete sexual favours for illegal substances on older men.

Social groups seem to be divided in the introduction shots of the playground, not only are social groups divided but so are social classes as if there was a link. For example the main character Trevor lives in a small flat so does his rival Sam both oft he same race. However the white working class seem to have larger homes with more materialistic objects.
