Representation of Britain, Britishness, gender, age and class.

Second scene. 'A proud father'
Class is represented in this scene through the Mise-en-scene. It is obvious that this family are working class because the house that they live in is small, they have to share beds and the props in this scene show they they do not have much money for example they do not have proper bath tub. This is a Pakistani family that live in Britain it challenges the conventions of a traditional Pakistani family because the mother is British and wears British clothing however the father is extremely traditional. The children are more proud of being British than Pakistani although they are not seen as any different in their society, this is shown through scenes of the children playing in the street.

Fourth scene 'I'll fix him'
Represents age and gender. they find out that the youngest son is not circumcised meaning that he is disobeying their religion. He is too old to not been circumcised, however the father makes him have an operation, his mother disagrees. It represents gender as it is only a male tradition for their religion. It also represents age because he is too young to understand why but too old to have to go through it.
